Explore Monument Valley's hidden side on this 2.5-hour backcountry journey, where the landscape opens into places few visitors ever reach. Ride past the West and East Mitten Buttes, then venture deeper to where the Totem Pole rises against the sky and the Sun's Eye frames the desert beyond. Along the way, pause at Moccasin Arch and the Sleeping Dragon, each formation telling its own story of the land. Wind through backcountry only a Navajo guide can unlock, finishing with a traditional performance that brings the valley's living culture full circle.

    • Landmarks: West / East Mitten Butte, Three Sisters, John Ford Point, Sleeping Dragon, The Big Hogan, Moccasin Arch, Sun's Eye, Totem Pole, North Window.

    Original tour routes and destinations may change due to bad road and weather conditions.

    The Navajo Hogan visit and rug weaving demonstration is not included on this tour. Please book the extended backcountry tour for this location.

  • Adult (Ages 13+): $70

    Child (Ages 12 and under): $45

  • Customers will receive a full refund or credit with 72 hours notice of cancellation. Customers will also receive a full refund or credit in case of operator cancellation due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances. Contact us by phone to cancel or inquire about a cancellation. No-shows will be charged the full price.

    Pick-Up:

    The View Hotel
    Please arrive at your pickup location 15 minutes early outside in front of the View hotel lobby at the tour guide loading area.

    KOA Campground
    Please meet 30 minutes early in front of the KOA office. KOA Campground is for KOA customers only. Refer to the corresponding pickup addresses above.

    The Navajo Nation observes daylight savings time. We are MDT(Mountain Daylight Time) If you are traveling from Arizona please be sure to leave one hour earlier March 8th to November 1st, 2026.
