Itinerary

1. Instruction and assessment on a 75' practice wall.

2. Hike through ponderosa pine forest to the rim of Eye of the Needle™ slot canyon.

3. Be lowered to the initial starting platform.

4. Climb the cliff band via ferrata route and return to the rim.

• Traverse sandstone cliffs and fixed via ferrata features high above a slot canyon

• Practice and demonstrate gear skills on a dedicated 75-foot training wall

Check-in details

Meet at Zion Adventures™ (1055 E. State Road 9, Virgin, UT) at the scheduled check-in time; transportation to and from the via ferrata location is provided.

What to bring

• Water (1–2 liters per person; hydration packs preferred)

• Sun protection such as sunscreen, hat, and protective layers

• Closed-toe footwear (athletic shoes or hiking shoes)

• Lunch and snacks

• Camera

• Clothing for varying seasonal weather

• Summer: A synthetic t-shirt and lightweight pants

• Spring/Fall: Warm synthetic layers, waterproof jacket, and gloves

Special requirements

Participants must pass an assessment on the practice wall before engaging the main wall. Participants should be able to rapidly learn technical skills and actively manage their own safety. Zion Adventures can accommodate participants outside stated height/weight limits with an additional guide—contact the operator to book.

Weight must be between 88 lbs and 260 lbs unless additional guide is arranged. Minimum height required is 5' tall. Not suitable for participants who are afraid of heights or exposure.

Route and operations may change due to weather or safety conditions. Accommodations for participants outside height/weight requirements require an additional guide and prior arrangements. All participants must demonstrate competency on the practice wall before accessing the main route.

Full payment is due at the time of booking. Cancellations more than 3 days in advance will receive a full refund. Cancellations within 72 hours of trip start time are non-refundable. Weather conditions do not permit clients to cancel trips. If your Zion Adventures® guide determines conditions make the event unsafe, we will reschedule or make every effort to provide a comparable experience; if not possible, all purchases will be refunded in full.
